Getting Music OFF An iPod

Ok, this is a follow-up to a previous article and actually comes about as the result of a conversation with a friend. We were talking about iPods, as you do, during lunch, when she mentioned that she had an old iPod with music on it, that is dying and she’d like to get the music off it. i mentioned that I know what is, at least I think, a relatively easy way to do this, to which she responded, thats what you should put on your blog.

So this is her fault ;)

In any case, the secret here is an application called iMazing.

This is paid software for both Mac and Windows, that allows you to transfer data, applications and make backups to and from your devices. It’s well worth the price but I think that there is a trial, so you can see for yourself if it’s something that would be useful for you.

Once you have the application downloaded and installed, then you connect your device and it should show up in the window like this

iMazing…

Next just click on the iPod itself

The content categories on the iPod

Then click on Music

You can even play your music from here…

And finally, in the bottom right the export button.

Here you can decide where you want to export it to. I would personally choose Folder, as then I have it backed up and can transfer it elsewhere as I please.

The Export button with options, bottom right

I think that pretty much covers it and I hope it helps those of you that have an old iPod that is on it’s last legs to recover your music from it. Until next time, happy listening.
